DMZ in Modern Warfare 4 has its own 70-level track, and every level from 2 to 70 pays out something: a Forward Operating Base station, a 3D Printer recipe, an Operator skin, a stash expansion or a Fire Support unlock. The full list is below, level by level, straight from Activision's launch progression table.
The levels that change how you play are 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20. That's the 3D Printer, the Vendor, the Gunsmith, your third Operator slot and the Dog Tag Case. Everything after 20 is about making the base richer: discounts, bigger stashes, better kits and killstreaks. Checked against Activision's Ready for Launch progression post (19 October) and the DMZ Deep Dive Part 2 FOB guide.
What do DMZ levels 2, 5, 10, 15 and 20 unlock?
- Level 2, 3D Printer: the base's crafting bench, plus six starter recipes: 1-Plate and 2-Plate Armor Vests, Bandage, Medkit, Small and Medium Backpack. The Medium Backpack is the one to chase first, because it adds Secure Slots that keep items through a failed exfil.
- Level 5, Vendor: buys weapons and gear for DMZ Cash. Stock rotates, so a good item you see today may be gone tomorrow.
- Level 10, Gunsmith: build weapons from scratch and buy attachments with cash. You still need to exfil with a Weapon Manual before a gun shows up for purchase.
- Level 15, third Operator slot: a second spare Operator means an MIA never stops you deploying. Vault Edition owners start with three slots already.
- Level 20, Dog Tag Case: displays the tags you take from rival Operators and, as it upgrades, pays bigger bounty cuts.

What the unlocks add up to
Four base unlocks
3D Printer at 2, Vendor at 5, Gunsmith at 10, Dog Tag Case at 20. The Boss Board isn't level-gated: it opens after your second DMZ Order.
Plus 54 item slots, plus 12 weapon slots
Three 18-slot stash expansions at 22, 45 and 70, and two 6-slot weapon stash expansions at 35 and 60, on top of the 40 items and 12 weapons the Stash starts with.
Up to double payout
The Dog Tag Case upgrades at 30, 50 and 70 lift your cut of claimed bounties by 10%, 50% and 100%.
Killstreaks from level 13
A UAV at 13 is the first. Fire Support printing opens at 28, then Care Package, Combat Drone, a second UAV and Crossfire from 58 to 66.
Four Operator skins
Reece at 4, Coffey at 9, Simone at 15 and Hector at 19. All four arrive before level 20.
Rare ingredients from 43
Eight levels between 43 and 57 each hand you two Rare printer ingredients, the stuff higher-rarity prints are built from.
Three things the table doesn't tell you
- FOB upgrades are a second track. Bank capacity, stash size, MIA rescue discounts and Dog Tag Case slots are also printed at the 3D Printer with loot, on top of what the level track gives you.
- Operator progress is separate again. Each Operator's Dog Tag climbs Steel to Onyx III and pays 18 Trait Points. That track has nothing to do with your DMZ level. Our Trait Points guide covers it.
- The grind is nearly flat. Day-one tallies put each level at roughly 15,000 to 19,000 XP all the way up, so level 60 costs about the same as level 6. The total to 70 lands at roughly 1.17 million XP.
Want the base built without the grind?
We boost your DMZ level on your own account, Team up on any platform or piloted on PC, from any starting point to any target up to 70. Every station, recipe and skin on this list stays on your account, along with the cash and loot earned on the way. Got questions first? The FAQ on our MW4 page covers how Team up and piloted orders work.
Questions players ask
Does my DMZ level reset when my Operator goes MIA?
No. Your DMZ Player Level and everything it unlocked belong to your account. An MIA Operator only risks their own Traits and gear until you rescue or dismiss them.
Can I unlock 3D Printer recipes without levelling?
Yes. Recipes also come from DMZ Orders and from loot: a Recipe you exfil with is added to your printer automatically and pays 5,000 DMZ Cash on top. The level track is the guaranteed route, not the only one. And every point of DMZ XP also counts toward your Soldier Rank.
Is there anything after level 70?
Not in the level track. 70 is the cap at launch, and the last bundle is the Advanced SERE Kit plus the final stash and bounty upgrades. Beyond that, progress moves to Operator Prestige and the camo grind.
