Aion 2 server transfers open on 14 October. They're free at first, you can only move within your own faction, and Early Access characters can only move to other Early Access Servers, never to the 48 Launch Servers that opened on 5 October.
That last rule decides more than it looks. If your friends start on a Launch Server and you're on an Early Access one, a transfer won't bring you together. Everything below is from NC's own notices, checked on 5 October.
The rules NC has published
- Date: transfers open on 14 October.
- Price: free at first. NC says "initially" and hasn't said for how long.
- Faction: Elyos to Elyos, Asmodian to Asmodian. Every server holds one faction, so moving to the other side isn't a transfer.
- Early Access stays Early Access: NC's wording is that "Early Access players may only transfer between Early Access Servers, and not commercial launch servers."
That's the whole published rule set. NC calls Early Access Servers "Advanced Access Servers" in some notices; they're the same 38 servers that opened from 30 September.
If you're on an Early Access Server
You can leave a packed server for a quieter Early Access one in your region and faction. That's the use NC had in mind: while queues built during Advanced Access, it kept opening new servers and told players they'd "have a chance to rejoin your friends" once transfers open.
What you can't do is follow a friend to a Launch Server. If that's the plan, start a second character there instead. Each server has four character slots, but a new character starts from level one with nothing.
If you start on a Launch Server
NC hasn't said whether Launch Server characters can transfer at all, either between Launch Servers or across to Early Access ones. Its only published restriction runs one way, Early Access to Launch. Until NC says more, pick your Launch Server as if you'll stay on it.
Our server guide lists every server by region and covers how to choose one.
What NC hasn't said yet
Plan around these gaps rather than guessing:
- What moves with you. NC hasn't said whether your inventory, Kinah, Legion or Market listings come along. Sell or collect anything listed on the Market before you move, and read NC's notes on 14 October first.
- Limits. No word yet on cooldowns, how often you can move, or whether a busy server can be closed to arrivals.
- When it stops being free. "Initially" is all NC has said.
Kinah is earned and spent on one server's Market, which is why this matters: our Kinah guide covers how it works per server.
Do you need to transfer at all?
Often not. NC says "all instanced content including dungeons are available cross-server", so friends on different servers of the same faction can still run dungeons together. Where it doesn't help is the open world and your server's Market.
If dungeons are what you play together, stay put and skip the move. If you want to share the open world and a Market, plan to be on the same server, and on the same kind of server, from day one.
If you move and need Kinah
A new server means a new Market and an empty wallet. We deliver Kinah on every Aion 2 server through that server's own Market, so it lands where you play. You need NC's Membership to use the Market, and buying Kinah breaks NC's Operation Policy, so read the FAQ on our Aion 2 page first.
