Plan on 10 to 15 hours of main story to reach level 45 on your first character, or closer to 20 to 25 if you do side content as you go. Main story alone is the quickest way to 45, but it leaves your character weaker than the level says. The smart route mixes in side content zone by zone.

Haven't picked a server yet? Choose your faction first. Figures below come from global levelling guides and, where noted, the Korean and Taiwanese versions.

What gives XP, and what gives power

Aion 2 marks its content by colour, and each colour pays in something different.

  • Yellow quests (main story): most of your XP. They also carry you through each zone and unlock the next.
  • Green quests (side story): less XP, but they pay Daevanion points, which raise your skills past what levels alone give you.
  • Sealed dungeons and strongholds (? on the map): short instances that pay Daevanion points and enhancement stones.
  • Gathering and open-world mobs: very little XP. Do them on the way, never on purpose.

So yellow gets you levels and green gets you strength. You need both by 45.

The route

  • Early levels: main story only. The opening zones and tutorials hang off it, and side rewards are small this early.
  • From there to 45: finish each main story chapter, then clear the green quests and sealed dungeons in that zone before you move on. Coming back later costs travel time.
  • Every new gear drop: equip it if it's better, then extract the old piece straight away.

That rhythm is slower on paper than pure main story. It's faster overall, because you arrive at 45 ready for endgame instead of going back to farm points.

Enhancement costs you nothing but Kinah

Enhance your gear while levelling, weapon first. When a better piece drops, extract the old one and every enhancement stone comes back.

The one thing you don't get back is the Kinah you paid to enhance. Early on it's small change. By the mid-levels it adds up, so keep your weapon enhanced and let the rest wait.

Mistakes that cost you later

  • Skipping green quests: you reach 45 short on Daevanion points and spend your first endgame week going back for them.
  • Hoarding enhancement stones: they're refunded on extraction, so unused stones are wasted power.
  • Spreading skill points thin: push your two main damage skills first. Two strong skills beat six weak ones.
  • Ignoring story bosses: they have real mechanics. If you die to the same attack twice, move, don't gear up.

What's the max level in Aion 2?

Level 45 on global servers. Korea and Taiwan moved to 50 in July; NC hasn't dated that change for global.

At 45, progression shifts from XP to gear, points and PvP. Endgame dungeons open up, and Kinah matters more because enhancement gets expensive. In the Korean and Taiwanese versions, two Daevanion boards also unlock at 45: one for damage against monsters, one against players. Fill the one that matches how you'll play first.

Starting after Early Access? Here's how far behind you really are.

Where Kinah comes in

Stones come back; Kinah doesn't. Every enhancement on the way to 45 costs some, and the bill grows as your gear does. Our guide to making Kinah covers earning it yourself. If you'd rather keep your evenings for levelling, we deliver Kinah on your server through its own Auction House.

You need NC's Membership to use the Auction House, and buying Kinah breaks NC's Operation Policy, so read the FAQ on our Aion 2 page before you order.
