The best way to make mesos in MapleStory Classic World at launch is the quest list: one level 35 jump quest pays 10,000 mesos on its own. After that it's drops sold to NPCs, scrolls and stars sold to players, and crafting materials, in that order.

The catch is that nobody has published measured mesos-per-hour numbers for Classic World yet. Nexon doesn't list meso drop ranges, and the fan databases say so plainly. What follows is the method, the quests and the drops that are confirmed, checked on 22 October against Nexon's release notes and the mapleclassic.wiki quest data.

Where mesos come from, ranked

Best early

Quests with meso rewards

Fixed payouts, no market risk. Levels 21 to 37 have more than a dozen quests that pay 600 to 10,000 mesos each on top of EXP. Do them as you pass through the level, not later.

Steady

NPC selling

Every drop has a fixed shop price. Pig Beach Leather, Stiff Feathers and Pig's Heads are the classic haul: pick up everything, sell when the inventory fills. Check the sell price in the shop window before you confirm.

Biggest upside

Selling to players

Scrolls, throwing stars and rare equips are worth far more to a player than to the NPC. Needs a Store Permit, or a megaphone and a meeting spot. In Classic World, scrolls are the real currency. Mesos are just how you count them.

From level 10

Crafting

Six trades, each with its own NPC. Players will pay more than the NPC for crafting materials like Leather and Fragments of Magic, and finished items sell too. Margins are small until you know the market.

Which quests pay mesos in MapleStory Classic World?

These are the meso rewards in the mapleclassic.wiki quest data at launch, sorted by level. Most pay EXP as well, so they double as levelling.

QuestLevelMesos
Making Sparkling Rock21614
Chris's, Dr. Faymus's and Cutthroat Manny's Requests22643 each
Stranger's Identity, Stranger's Request23672 each
Camila's Gem24702
Sabitrama's two medicine quests25731 each
Regained Vitality, Chief Stan's Hammer27789 each
Arwen and the Glass Shoe, Huckle's Magic Ingredients29848 each
Maya's First and Second Collection30877 each
Shumi's Lost Sack of Cash (Kerning City jump quest)3510,000
Riel's Florina Beach quests373,500 to 7,020

Shumi's jump quest is the one to plan for: 10,000 mesos at level 35 is nearly as much as the whole level 21 to 30 list put together. It's a platforming test, so budget a few attempts. Riel's Florina Beach chain comes two levels later and pays a similar total across its parts.

What drops are worth selling to players?

NPC prices are fixed, so the question is which drops are worth more to a player. Community drop tables for Classic World point to these. Prices move with supply, so check the Free Market before you set a figure.

  • Green Mushroom (level 14): Claw Attack 60% scrolls, the Assassin staple, plus the Pan Lid shield.
  • Zombie Mushroom (level 24): Claw Attack 60% and Spear Attack 10% scrolls, in the Ant Tunnel maps everyone trains in anyway.
  • Fire Boar (level 32): Wolbi Throwing Stars and Earring STR 10% scrolls, in The Burnt Land.
  • Jr. Wraith (level 34) and Wraith (level 48): Mokbi stars from Jr. Wraiths, and a Red Whip drop from Wraiths in Line 2 Area 3.
  • Mushmom (level 40 boss): Ilbi Throwing Stars. One spawn in Someone Else's House, on a 60-minute respawn.
  • Jr. Balrog (level 80 boss): Elixirs and the Scroll Crafting Stimulator, at the far end of Sleepywood's Cursed Sanctuary. A party job, three-hour respawn.

Crafting materials are the quiet one. Leather, Pig Ribbons and Fragments of Magic feed the six trades, so a crafter will pay above NPC price for a stack. Pig Beach is the classic source: Leather, Stiff Feathers and Pig's Heads, with Iron Hog respawning hourly.

Selling it: Store Permits, megaphones and Citizenship

Selling in Classic World is face to face, or from a shop you set up in the Free Market, and both need a little preparation.

  • Store Permit: a Cash Shop item that lets you list up to 12 items in the Free Market or out in the field. The launch check-in event (The Journey Begins) hands out a free 7-day Regular Store Permit on Day 4 and again on Day 12.
  • Megaphones: channel-wide shouts from the Cash Shop, usable from level 15. Day 6 and Day 13 of the same event give you three each.
  • Citizenship: from level 12, talk to Arthur in Henesys Town Hall or Roxy in Kerning City Civic Center. Citizens get discounts on cabs, the Storage Keeper and some general store items, which is spending you'd do anyway.

A simple loop for launch week

  1. Levels 1 to 15: quest through Maple Island, then pick up everything and NPC it. Hit 15 on day one so trading unlocks on day two.
  2. Levels 15 to 30: accept every quest in the table above before you train its monsters. Keep scrolls and stars; sell the rest.
  3. Level 30: take Citizenship in whichever town you train from, and claim the Day 4 Store Permit.
  4. Levels 35 to 37: Shumi's jump quest, then Riel's Florina Beach chain. That's your gear fund.
  5. After that: list your scrolls and stars in the Free Market during peak hours and keep training.

Fund the gear instead

We hand Classic World Mesos to your character by face-to-face trade in game, so nobody logs into your account. Give us your character name at checkout, open a Delivery ticket on our Discord and we agree a time to meet.

Quick answers

How many mesos do monsters drop in MapleStory Classic World? Nobody has published verified per-kill figures yet. Nexon doesn't list drop ranges, and the fan databases say the data isn't available. Time a 15-minute session and work it out for your map.

Is crafting worth it for mesos? Not as a main income yet. Until the market settles, the surer money is selling Leather, Pig Ribbons and Fragments of Magic to the crafters who need them.

What is the fastest way to make mesos at low level? Nella's line at 10, then every quest in the table from 21. Reach level 15 on day one so trading opens on day two.
