Mistfall Hunter's 15 October update went live at 08:00 UTC with no downtime. Healing Elixirs no longer stop healing when a no-impact hit lands on you, Mercenary's Sword and Shield can now overdraw Energy to Block, and Combat Bags stack up to 20.
Bellring calls it "a batch of known issues". That undersells it. Hidden among the fixes are a PvP exploit, an Auction House bug that deleted gems, and the first real attempt to help melee classes against ranged pressure. Sourced from Bellring's October 15 Live Update post on Steam.
What changed with Healing Elixirs?
Until this patch, any damage cancelled a Healing Elixir's heal over time. That made the drink a coin flip for melee players: back off to heal, eat one cheap ranged poke, and the whole heal was gone. Now only hits with impact cancel it. These no longer do:
- Blackarrow: uncharged shots.
- Sorcerer: instant-cast basic attack spells.
- Reverent Seer: Psionic Orbs.
Read that list again. It's every ranged class's free chip damage. Bellring says outright that melee players were being "easily interrupted by basic ranged attacks". This is a direct transfer of power from backline to frontline in every re-engagement.
Mercenary and Sorcerer: who gained, who lost?
The class changes are short, but they point in one direction: reward skill, close loopholes.
Mercenary (Sword and Shield) versus Sorcerer
The Mercenary change is an admission. Bellring raised Perfect Defense's Energy cost in an earlier balance pass, and parrying stopped paying. Letting Block dip into overdraft is the patch for its own patch. Notice what's missing, though: how far Block can overdraw. The AMA promised exact numbers "in a future season", and this post still has none.
Which fixes matter most for PvP and trading?
Two lines near the bottom of the notes deserve more attention than the headline.
| Fix | Before | Now |
|---|---|---|
| Unstuck | Could break crowd control and cancel recovery animations | Exploit closed |
| Auction House gems | Bulk-list gems, sell some, and the rest vanished from the slot | Unsold gems stay listed |
| Stoic affix | Could trigger on a one-shot death above 50% Health | Fixed |
| Player collision | Laggy sync when bumping other players | Better sync in multiplayer |
The Unstuck exploit is the big one. A menu button that frees you from a stun is a cheat in all but name, and in an extraction game a stun is often the fight. The gem bug was quieter but worse for traders: it ate real stock. If you lost gems listing in bulk, Bellring's post doesn't mention compensation.
Did Bellring keep its AMA promises?
On 30 September, Bellring answered the community's top requests in its Gyldenhunters' Council AMA. Fifteen days later, two of them have shipped:
- Combat Bag stacks: done. Novice now stacks to 20, Advanced to 15, Pro and Elite to 10.
- World Chat spam: partly. World Chat now needs level 5. That raises the cost of a spam account; it doesn't stop one.
- Camp mail nagging: partly. Some system mail sounds are gone at camp. The promised mute toggle for Soekja isn't here yet.
- Higher drop rates, Gem Warehouse, drink animation toggle: not yet. All were tied to Season 2.
That's a decent strike rate for a two-week turnaround. The trouble is that the biggest promises, better loot and a less grindy exchange shop, are all parked behind a season with no date.
What does this patch say about Mistfall Hunter's future?
It's the patch of a studio in repair mode. DevNote #9 already apologised for launch-day netcode and server performance; this update keeps chipping at the same list, one collision fix and one exploit at a time. That's the right priority. It just isn't news that brings players back.
Those numbers don't describe a dead game, and console players aren't in them. They describe a game that needs Season 2. Every event Bellring adds now runs "until the end of Season 1", with no date for when that is. Players will give a studio patience. They give it less when they can't see the finish line.
The fixes are good. The roadmap is the problem.
What should you do after the October 15 update?
- Drink your five free ones. The Free Drinks event started at 02:00 UTC on 15 October, six hours before the patch. Five free drinks a day adds up over a season with no end date.
- Melee players: heal under poke. Blackarrow pokes and Seer orbs no longer cancel your Elixir. Back off and drink.
- Clear out Combat Bags. Bigger stacks mean fewer bags lost to a full inventory.
- List gems one stack at a time until you've seen the fix hold on your server.
If repairs and relisting have your Gyldenblod running low, we sell it for every region, delivered by in-game trade or piloted login. And if you'd rather test the new Elixir rules with a full team behind you, our operators run Squad Carry. For how the season started, see our Soul Harvest event breakdown.
